The man who died was a passenger in one of the vehicles and was suspected of having a heart attack. Our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Friedman.

Applicable California Law

The news accounts do not identify  the driver of the at fault vehicle. In addition, there is no evidence  that the drivers of the vehicles that was rear-ended or hit head on contributed to causing the accident or their injuries, which would affect the value of their injury claims. Authorities state that Mr. Friedman was wearing his seatbelt, thus he did not contributed to causing his own death. The  Friedman family heirs would have wrongful death claims against those who caused his death as provided by California’s Wrongful Death Statute. In addition, the others who were injured would have potential personal injury claims which would include medical costs, lost earnings and earning potential as well as compensation for pain and suffering.

An auto accident that resulted in the wrongful death of a man and major traumatic injury to others is a tragedy. However, when thinking about the devastating consequences for the victims and their families, it helps us gain proper perspective on the importance of people in our life.  Taking care of the many complicated issues after any accident adds to the emotional and physical pain. The advice and counsel of an experienced personal injury attorney can be of great comfort.
